NOIR — Face The Music

In January of 2010, I was contacted by Walt Klappert, of
Yale Cabaret, Hollywood.
He had seen, and liked, my play NOIR,
and wanted it adapted as a 1-hour T.V. pilot script.
I was unwilling to cut a tight 1.5-hr mystery in half.
The play is also too static for camera,
and not paced for commercial breaks.
I offered to write a new script using characters
and ambience from NOIR.
Walt agreed and commissioned the work
This became episode one, Face The Music,
of a proposed series to be entitled, NOIR.
The script turned out really well, and had a public reading
at Heritage Square, Pasadena, in April of that year.
The actors were very enthusiastic about the script.
It is still awaiting development.

Synopsis:
Detective, BUCK Reilly, has been hired as a "Friend Of The Court" in a graft investigation
of the Mayor's Office. While there, he gets a call from a friend, Frank Muscatello.
The Arranger (Frank Vickers) for Frank's boss, Bandleader, Les Romero, has disappeared
— along with all the music for Romero's up-coming radio broadcast.
Vickers' body is discovered in Union Station. His "brain has exploded."
BUCK searches for the killer, and discovers a sinister connection to his other case.

Quirky characters, snappy dialogue, and a tight plot.
