A Long Long Time

This is probably the first song I ever wrote. Certainly the first I ever copyrighted.
It was 1959. Every school hallway, staircase and bathroom— any place that had an echo —
served as a rehearsal hall for 'Doo-wop' groups. I sang bass.
Half-a-century later, I finally got to sing the lead.
It's not immortal. It wasn't supposed to be. It was supposed to be fun!
